"A Heart for Christ" Week 2 - Pastor Joe Martin - April 14, 2024
Dear Friends, Our desires steer our lives for good and bad. Galatians 5:16-18 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law. Strong, fleshly desires can pull us into many foolish and destructive words and actions. Desire can also empower us to faithful love and heroic service. How can we train our desire toward God and good? How can we crucify fleshly desire so the resurrected deep desire of the Holy Spirit can transform us from the inside out? This Sunday’s message will answer these questions. The experience of life teaches us that people do what they want in the end. This is true even when they do not always understand why they act at the time. Let’s learn our part in growing our desire for God as we walk by the Spirit. Keep praying, “God, I want to want you more!” Pray for your family that they would have a heart to know God. Invite them to hear the gospel with you. Plan to gather for one of the worship services on Sunday at 8:00 and 11:00 am. Plan to take your children and yourself to breakfast and class at 9:30 am. We have classes for everyone. I can’t wait to see you. Joe To read Pastor Joe’s preparing for Sunday, click here. |
